A long expanse of soft pale sand, with pink hues from granite fragments, enclosed between a lagoon and the sea of a soft blue hue, which takes on an infinite number of nuances as you go out to sea. Porto Giunco is a tropical beach in the centre of the Mediterranean, one of the most famous on the island and one of the most beautiful in Italy, as sanctioned by the users of <em>TripAdvisor<\/em>Its colours look like they were painted by an artist and have inspired directors and advertisers who have chosen it as the setting for their commercials. The size of the beach is such that you will always find plenty of space to lie down. The shallow, sandy seabed is ideal for families with children. The location of the cove, nestled between promontories that act as natural wind defences, contributes to the enchanting scenery, giving you the feeling of having arrived in a privileged corner of the world and creating the atmosphere for relaxing bathing.<\/p><p>The oasis is bord<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4107 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/orizzontevela.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/download-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/p><p>he dunes covered with junipers, mastic trees and Mediterranean scrub, which perfume the air. Nestled in a grove of eucalyptus trees is the footpath that leads from the large car park to the beach, which can be reached in a few minutes from the centre of the village, taking the direction of the modern\u00a0<strong>marina<\/strong>. The path skirts the\u00a0<strong>pond of Notteri<\/strong>which shimmers placidly behind the beach, chosen as a habitat by pink flamingos and other migratory birds. It was once lush with reed beds, hence the name of the beach, also nicknamed 'dei due mari' (of the two seas), because it is a sandy tongue sandwiched between two bodies of water.<\/p><p>A dream location that will leave an indelible memory, equipped with all beach services and rentals, with hotels and residences around it. Along the lido you will find kiosks-bars and nightclubs: when the sun slowly sinks into the horizon, the beach lights up with torches and invites you for an aperitif accompanied by music. It is also an ideal destination for surfers and offers snorkelling and diving enthusiasts views of swarms of confident fish following the warm currents. I <em>trekker <\/em>can climb the promontory to the southwest, at the top of which, guarding the bay, stands the imposing\u00a0<strong>tower of Porto Giunco<\/strong>nine metres high, a 17th-century 'memory' erected by the Spanish of pirate attacks from the sea. From up there you will enjoy a dazzling 'picture'.<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4108 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/orizzontevela.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/download-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"297\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p><p>The 'Rush' is the shining pearl of the<strong>Capo Carbonara marine area<\/strong>86 square kilometres of protected land and sea, where the scenery for commercials and films is endless. Spectacular underwater scenery: granite pinnacles and cracks coloured by yellow sea daisies and red gorgonia. Tidal waves and shoals have relegated wrecks from every era to the depths. On the surface, headlands, coves, beaches, lagoons and green areas. Porto Giunco is the westernmost part of a long coastline that starts from\u00a0<strong><em>Simius<\/em><\/strong>, a one-kilometre 'city' beach of fine white sand. It is closed to the north by the promontory of Porto Luna, which separates it from another Simian 'jewel',\u00a0<strong>Punta\u00a0<em>Molentis<\/em><\/strong>, an unmistakably charming inlet with a characteristic arch shape. Other beauties of the eastern side of Capo Carbonara, the extreme south-eastern tip of Sardinia, are\u00a0<em>is Traias,<\/em>\u00a0<em>Rio Trottu<\/em>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>Manunzas<\/em>. In front of the shoreline stand the<strong>island<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Cabbages<\/strong>\u00a0and that of\u00a0<strong>Serpentara<\/strong>. To the west of the promontory, other beautiful beaches follow, starting with\u00a0<strong>Porto<em>\u00a0sa Ruxi<\/em><\/strong>then\u00a0<strong><em>Campus<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0e\u00a0<em>Campolongu<\/em>and close to the settlement the very special\u00a0<strong>beach<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>rice<\/strong>which is distinguished by grains of sand, similar to grains of rice. Finally, right at the foot of the 'cape' the two delightful and secluded coves of\u00a0<strong>Cala Caterina<\/strong>surrounded by granite cliffs, with crystal-clear waters with a thousand shimmering reflections.
